An Indian restaurant in Maidstone serving their Finest

Hello all! 2015 has been a wonderful year. What’s a trip to Maidstone without trying local Indian favourites? We see a lot of PBS Food, so I wanted to share one of the bestIndian restaurant in Maidstone. I highly recommend trying the Mughal Dynasty, just at the corner of London road. I’ll never forget how I craved curry so much when I was expecting on a cold December evening.

The dinner was something I could tell you the most enjoyable evening I had in years. The restaurant has the same old look but with a very energetic staffs. Running and skidding along the hallway and the dining area. The place was buzzing with the people chatting away, music playing on the counter. It was as if half the locals turned up here at this cozy restaurant. I was lucky enough to book a table for four. Seeing I arrived early then my friends, I had to wait a teeny bit for a table. It was not so strange that they had to pull extra chairs due the people coming in as time passed.

The waiter was a bit slow on taking our orders, where he repeated my order over three times. But it was surprising after all the crowd, the starters came piping hot. Chicken pakora’s sizes were as large as a tennis ball, whereas the meat samosas were a bit smaller than any Indian place. It could’ve been a bit bigger. Enjoyed the meat stuffing with the mint sauce. The pappadums were a bit too oiled. So I avoided it. The plus point of the starters were the king prawn butterfly. These king prawns were battered in a special flour as I remember the waiter explaining to me earlier.

Of all the restaurants, I found this Indian restaurant a bit different. Usually there are the chef’s boasting their specialties and other dishes that are famous for. But here the Chefs have kept the menu really simple with an attitude of keeping classic Indian traditional dishes. Each dish here represents a culture, a region and the secret recipes kept for generations. On my last visit I had the pleasure of tasting the lamb rogan and the vegetable dansak. I still remember how good that dish of lamb was. For that I kind of went a bit brave to order much spicier.

I know people say there isn’t any hot as Vinadaloo. Trust me here isn’t. I ordered a dish of chicken tikka vindaloo with a side of saag panir and a chunk of chicken akbari. Now to describe the chicken tikka vindaloo, you should know that the usual recipe is the Kashmiri chilli. Now these chillies usually makes a burn to the mouth. Here at the Mughal dynasty the chef’s made sure you don’t burn the mouth but taste the exquisite curry till you can have the second bite. On my fifth bite of the chicken the heat was seriously good. Now if you are a novice of heat; please do not try.

I would say the time spent on the cold winter here at the Mughal restaurant was an enjoyable one.  The place can be summarized as one of the goodplaces to eat in Maidstone. If you ever want this place to be your takeaway, just know this. They serve Fine Indian cuisine and do NOT deliver. This was the first mistake I did when I tried to ask for a delivery. But they do have a quick collection service. I would recommend try to spend some time here.
